St. Luke’s has a long tradition of serving the community locally, nationally, and globally. The vestry of St. Luke’s acts as the common arm of the congregation, reaching out to improve the lives of those around us by providing financial support to service agencies, encouraging and supporting members who offer personal service to local agencies, coordinating donations in kind, and supporting special projects and offerings. St. Luke’s encourages and emphasizes community action in a variety of ways, including music, sermons and scripture in the worship services as well as other activities in the church.
St. Luke’s distributes funds to local service agencies as well as national and international agencies with special ties to the congregation.
Funding for Outreach Grants
The Oasis is a resale shop run by St. Luke’s. In addition to generating funding for outreach grants, more than $50,000 of goods are given away to the most needy each year.
Personal Service and Donations in Kind
Both members of St. Luke’s and residents of the greater Lake Livingston area volunteer their time and effort and gifts in kind at the Oasis.
Episcopal Diocese of Texas-Wide Offerings
Each year St. Luke’s donates a percentage of its Oasis Ministry profit to outreach ministries throughout the Diocese of Texas.
